Microsoft Zune HD : Features, Price And Review

After years of trying, has Microsoft finally beat Apple at its own game? Well, not quite. But the fantastic Zune HD certainly gives the iPod touch some worthy competition. The lack of a robust App Store is the only drawback for the Zune HD, which otherwise flauntsa beautiful touch-screen, an excellent user interface, HD radio, and the best browserwe've seen since the Apple's mobile Safari. While the touch is a better touch-screenplayer, the Zune HD is a close second.

A very good-looking gadget, the 16GB Zune HD is Onyx Black and the 32GB version is Platinum Silver. This Zune HD has a smaller, lighter frame than the iPod touch, measuring 4.0 by 2.1 by 0.4 inches (HWD) and weighing just 2,6 ounces. However, the Zune's 3.3-inch OLED screen is noticeably smaller than the touch's 3.5-inch LCD, but video still looks great on it. The touch and Zune HD seem nearly identical in touch screen sensitivity. Microsoft's software updates, however, are still clunkier than Apple's. But once you'reup and running, the software and interface are impressive. Also, the Zune HD supportsonly MP3, WMA, and unprotected AAC files. The best new music feature on the Zune HD is the ability to purchase music wirelessly, thanks to integrated 802.11g. The Zune Marketplace makes it easy to browse for music on the player or your PC, but the Apps section currently has a very limited selection.

Overall, Microsoft has shown Apple that it, too, can make an attractive, easy-to-useplayer. If Microsoft is able to give birth to an App Store that can rival Apple's, then the race could get interesting.

Microsoft Zune HD
Price:
16GB - $219.99
32GB - $289.99

PROS : Gorgeous multi-touch OLED screen. Intuitive user interface with sharp, good looking graphics. Strong Web browser. Wireless music purchasing, downloading, and syncing. HD radio.

CONS : Limited HD video support. Very slim pickings in the App section of the Zune Market place.

windows 8

Do Microsoft ever stop? With the coming of Linux OS Microsoft has always been under watch. They have suffered and every one thought its going to be the end of windows. XP came out to be a big hit but the latter version the VISTA did not work well with the crowd. This made the others rise. With Linux Mandriva we thought windows is going to die.
But here it strikes again with full force with its Windows 7. But do they stop?
They are set to move on fast and will soon be launching its latest project 'windows 8'.

Windows 8 going to bring 128-bit architecture compatibility (IA-128).

Like the fact that we always thought Windows 7 is going to be the last OS available in two version. Now it seems like Windows 8 is going to be available both as a 64-bit and as a 128-bit built if Microsoft gets it to work.

Even though we know it’s hard not to get excited, keep in mind that this should be taken with a pint of salt as nothing has been confirmed by MSFT.

According what information has leaked out, Microsoft courier concept is an all innovative concept with dual screens and the ability to be folded up like a book.

Further information say that the 7 -inch display will feature support for multi-touch used to control the device, entering text, drawing etc. when closed, the tablet will be protected by a leather cover and with a rear facing camera.

Other information about the battery life, processor speed and all is still hazy but it is a common opinion that wireless connectivity feature will be there. After all, folding, multi-touch pc with duall scree may just not be good enough.

Microsoft Office 2010 (beta)

Microsoft has released the beta version of Office 2010 (available for free to those who preregister for a chance to download and test it). After running it for a few days of intense testing, I'm impatient for the final release. As far as I can telL this should be the smoothest upgrade for Office in many years. If you're used to Office 2007, you'll need no help using Office 2010. Old features remain where they were, although some are now displayed on spacious menus with lots of explanatory text instead of the cramped menus of 2007. In fact, the new features are slotted in so smoothly that it may take you a few moments to realize that they're new. This will also be the first version of Office available in both 32- and 64-bit versions.

There aren't big, obvious changes. As for subtle changes, Office 2010 extends the rib¬bon throughout the suite, adding it to Publisher OneNote, and Outlook's main menu. A new customiza¬tion feature lets you add your own tab and remove some items on the default ribbon.
The suite has replaced the pearl-like Office Button menu with a small, rectangular icon that opens a spacious "Backstage" page with options for saving, printing, and man¬aging files. A new Print menu is especially impressive, with options such as page orientation (portrait or landscape) and one- or two-sided printing instantly accessible instead of buried deep in the Windows Print dialog. And PDF out¬put is finally built-in from the start. Other additions include a screen-capture tool, a background-remover , and document sharing and collaboration functionality via SharePoint.

Office 2010 should keep Microsoft comfortably in the lead in office applications, but it remains to be seen how well Microsoft will fend off competition from Web-based application services such as Google Docs.

Microsoft Vine- send emergency messages "safe and well"

Microsoft Vine is new sleek looking beta software released for windows xp, vista and 7. What does vine do and what is its use??? well, that would be a damn good question. because i am still scratching my head and blowing my brains out thinking about it.

Now in short, microsoft vine is something like a social networking software eventhough they promptly decline it. Basically it is software that lets you connect to all those you think are worth conecting and send messages "safe and well", to use their own words. Its twitter that you have to download and install and which is released by microsoft. It updates u on your friends in social networking sites like facebook, linkedin etc. it also allows you to send emails to a variety of addresses and sms to mobile through the same interface.

Apart from connecting to friends and family feature. it also has a map like thing that lets you mark out certain places that mean much to you and zune will trace out everything that happens there and around it. Ok, u will not get alerts whenever your friend brushes his/her teeth if u mark his house, but .... well, u know what i mean. This is primary use vine has to a single user who hasn't connected with any one else yet.

Vine scores with the neat looks and sleek design. It also has a worth-mentioning user friendly interface. but when you start using it you relize that this not so great after all. first, if want to connect to your friends you will have brainwash them to download, install and maintain it. second, you will have to boot up ur system everytime you want to send a message. Atleast a "Vine mobile" version is more recommended, which is heard of yet. Either that or make it entirely web- based.
