SONY NWZ-X1060 : Features, Specification And Review

At one time, Sony's Walkman brand was synonymous with audio players, but in recent years it has run second place to Apple's iPod. The SONY Walkman NWZ-X1060 could see those fortunes reversed.
The first thing you notice is how good SONY NWZ-X1060 looks and how solid it feels. At 98g, it's heavier than the Cowon, but we feel its worthwhile, as it feels as if it'll stand up to some heavy usage. The layout of the function buttons seems arbitrary, but Sony has done a good job, with
volume and noise cancellation buttons on the right-hand side, and a 3.5mm audio socket and Play/Pause, Forward and Reverse buttons neatly together on the top.

The screen is a 3-inch OLED display, while the back of the player is made from scratch-resistant plastic. The touchscreen display is highly responsive and the interface is neatly constructed around a grid pattern, with all functions carried out from the bottom of the screen. Navigating the menu is comfortable and easy. Audio quality is also great. The EQ is easy to get to grips with, but the audio is reasonably balanced even in default settings. The earphones supplied are also of excellent quality, offering noise-cancelling and three different bud sizes.

Sony claims 33 hours of continuous audio playback. The Sony Walkman NWZ-X1060 is an astonishing media player, delivering top-quality audio, video and images. Paired with its great battery life and excellent earphones, this may well be the new benchmark for audio players.

Sony Vaio X Series:Review, Features And Specification

Sony’s Vaio X Series is the company’s new slimmie that makes the Macbook Air look fat by comparison, but does it pack enough inside its lithe case to compete with the big boys? Read our Sony Vaio X Series review now to find out.

Sony’s Vaio X Series laptop is slim. Damn slim. It needs to run around in the shower to get wet, that kind of slim. It measures just 13.9mm fat, which is thinner than the Macbook Air (although the Air does get down to just 4mm at one point, but that doesn’t accurately represent the bulk of carrying it). And as such, the Sony Vaio X Series feels a little flimsy, more like a delicate ornament than a warhorse that’ll see you through all kinds of scrapes.

The Sony’s Vaio X Series is crazily light – just 780g to be precise. Sling it in a laptop bag and you’ll forget it’s there, it’s that light. And if you’ve been lugging round a 13-inch Macbook previously, it feels like someone’s emptied your bag of a slab of concrete.

The Sony Vaio X Series comes with Windows 7, a choice of either 128 or 256GB flash memory, and two USB ports . The keyboard is nicely spaced out, with ample room between each key to minimize mis-hits. Plus there’s a proper mouse trackpad with gesture controls, unlike the nipple on the even smaller P Series. The trackpad is a little small, and pinching to zoom on pictures only worked about once in every three times, but we’d still much rather it than the awful effort on the Vaio P.

At 10.1-inches, the screen is an inch smaller than the Air’s, but it’s bright and colours are vivid. A handy Wireless switch lets you turn off Wi-Fi and preserve battery without having to go into an on-screen menu. And the Atom processor on the Vaio X Series is fine for basic applications, but don’t expect it to run Fallout 3.

One of the compromises of the slimness is there’s no CD drive, although built-in 3G mobile broadband will get you online wherever you are. And we’d advise the matte black finish over the glossy one, the latter attracting fingerprints like dogs to a butcher’s window. As for the champagne gold finish? Euch.

This being Sony, the Vaio X Series does cost a bomb. But in terms of sexiness and mobility, it’s unbeatable.

Sony PlayStation 3 120GB (PS3 SMm):A Slimmed-Down PS3

To the casual observer, there's nothing particularly slim about the new sony playstation PS3's sleek black housing; it's only when you compare it with its nearly three-year-old counterpart that you see how much smaller it is. The bigger news here is the $100 price drop; The original PS3 retailed for $600 when it launched in 2006, and up until late August, the least-expensive PS3 you could buy was $400—with an 80GB hard drive. A more-reasonable $300 now buys you an incredible console that's more compact, has a roomier 120GB hard drive, and is one of the
best Blu-ray players you can find.

In general, the new PlayStation 3 works pretty much the same as the previous-generation console, besides trimming this new model down to 2.5 by 11.4 by 11.4 inches (HWD) and 6.7 pounds. The device still features a 3.2-GHz processor, 550-GHz Nvidia graphics, and the RSX Reality Synthesizer GPU. The changes that are noteworthy are the hard drive bump to 120GB and the completely redesigned power supply unit and cooling mechanism, resulting in increased efficiency. On our power-consumption tests, the new PS3 used 71 watts during Blu-ray playback, while the older model consumed 104 watts. Also, you can stream content to the PS3 from a host of DLNA-compliant devices, such as digital cameras.

The new PS3 is nonetheless the best console for gamers and home entertainment buffs who want a versatile media center with Blu-ray.

Sony X Series Walkman (NWZ-X1051)

The NWZ-X1051 or the Walkman X Series, is available in 16GB and 32GB—the same capaci¬ties (and prices) as the iPod touch. Wi-Fi enabled, with a touch screen and the integra¬tion of popular Web services ike Slacker Internet radio and YouTube, the Walkman has evolved into a robust music and video player. You also get earphones with built-in noise cancellation. My only major complaint: the Web experience is a bit weak, as Sony's browser is no match for Apple's Safari.Measuring 3.8 by 2.1 by 0.4 inches (HWD), the all-black X Series boasts a super-crisp, 3-inch, 432-by-240-pixel OLED touch screen anc a unique sparkly (but notoverly flashy) body. Though it is one of the better touch screens out there, it is not as responsive as the iPod touch's. The user interface looks a bit outdated, but it's very intuitive. File sup¬port is somewhat limited, supporting MP3, WMA, AAC (unprotected) and L-PCM for audio; AVC (H.264/AVC), MPEG4, and WMV for video; and JPEGs for photos. Con¬necting via Wi-Fi is also a bit cumbersome. After entering a password the player asks you for more info about your wireless network than you might know offhandbut the Walkman remembers your info, so it's only a one-time annoyance. Sony rates the battery life for the X Series at 33 hours for audio playback and 9 hours for video, but I got only 24 hours 10 minutes of audio playback.Sony X Series Walkman (NWZ-X1051)Price: $299 (16GB); $399 (32GB)PROS: Touch screen. Wi-Fi-enabled. Built-in Slacker & YouTube support. Comes with 100 free downloads from Sony MusicPass. Noise-canceling earphones.CONS: Lousy built-in browser. Slacker Radio can be slow to load.Tags:-Sony X Series Walkman,NWZ-X1051,Sony NWZ-X1051,Sony X Series Walkman features,Sony X Series Walkman specs.,Sony X Series Walkman review,Sony X Series Walkman pics,Sony X Series Walkman images,Sony X Series Walkman pictures,Sony.
