The AMOLED technology of samsaung has yet again brought a new definition to TV viewing also. It recently brought its new concept of 30-inch AMOLED TV at the FPD. Measuring at just 2.5mm thin, the AMOLED TV is powered by Samsung’s patented Simultaneous Emission with Active Voltage (SEAV) technology and the Crosstalk technology to reduce dizziness and eye fatigue. Sony Vaio X Series:Review, Features And Specification

Sony’s Vaio X Series is the company’s new slimmie that makes the Macbook Air look fat by comparison, but does it pack enough inside its lithe case to compete with the big boys? Read our Sony Vaio X Series review now to find out.

Sony’s Vaio X Series laptop is slim. Damn slim. It needs to run around in the shower to get wet, that kind of slim. It measures just 13.9mm fat, which is thinner than the Macbook Air (although the Air does get down to just 4mm at one point, but that doesn’t accurately represent the bulk of carrying it). And as such, the Sony Vaio X Series feels a little flimsy, more like a delicate ornament than a warhorse that’ll see you through all kinds of scrapes.

The Sony’s Vaio X Series is crazily light – just 780g to be precise. Sling it in a laptop bag and you’ll forget it’s there, it’s that light. And if you’ve been lugging round a 13-inch Macbook previously, it feels like someone’s emptied your bag of a slab of concrete.

The Sony Vaio X Series comes with Windows 7, a choice of either 128 or 256GB flash memory, and two USB ports . The keyboard is nicely spaced out, with ample room between each key to minimize mis-hits. Plus there’s a proper mouse trackpad with gesture controls, unlike the nipple on the even smaller P Series. The trackpad is a little small, and pinching to zoom on pictures only worked about once in every three times, but we’d still much rather it than the awful effort on the Vaio P.

At 10.1-inches, the screen is an inch smaller than the Air’s, but it’s bright and colours are vivid. A handy Wireless switch lets you turn off Wi-Fi and preserve battery without having to go into an on-screen menu. And the Atom processor on the Vaio X Series is fine for basic applications, but don’t expect it to run Fallout 3.

One of the compromises of the slimness is there’s no CD drive, although built-in 3G mobile broadband will get you online wherever you are. And we’d advise the matte black finish over the glossy one, the latter attracting fingerprints like dogs to a butcher’s window. As for the champagne gold finish? Euch.

This being Sony, the Vaio X Series does cost a bomb. But in terms of sexiness and mobility, it’s unbeatable.

ATI Radeon HD 5870 :The fastest single-chip video card

The ATI Radeon HD 5870 is the fastest single-chip video card on the market and perilously close to being the fastest card period. It is roughly as fast as its dual-chip predecessor, the ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2. It's typically fairly close to Nvidia's dual-chip GeForce GTX 295.

Radeon HD 4870 1GB and a GeForce GTX 280, neither one exactly a slouch. The 4870 and GTX 280 offered surprisingly similar gaming experiences for me, and that gaming experience was excellent, leaving very little left to be desired.

General Performance:

the Radeon HD 5870 to be roughly twice as powerful as the Radeon HD 4870. It has twice the everything of the 4870 - shaders, texture units, render back-ends - except for the memory and memory bus, which is only marginally faster. A version with 2GB of GDDR5 instead of 1GB is announced and coming down the pipe.

The 5870 is far more than enough card for a 1920x1200 monitor, or even a massive 30-inch 2560x1600.Under DirectX 10, they can handle settings maxed out with 2xAA; under the more performance-savvy DirectX 9, bump that up to 4xAA.the Radeon HD 5870 averaged 30fps almost on the dot. Let's be clear here: last generation's single-GPU cards had trouble running it at all Enthusiast at 1920x1200, but the 5870 can more or less double the resolution and offer extremely smooth performance.

From Auto all the way up to full-on Manual mode, Olympus has included many shooting modes that fluctuate the level of manual intensity to suit the needs of the shooter. The Stylus SP-565UZ's image quality is not too shabby either. In fact, it's one of the best performances we've seen from a camera with such a small sensor. Nokia X6:Full Features and Review

With the introduction of the X series, Nokia aims to distance its all-around phones from the music phones. The two first phones in the new lineup will be the Nokia X6 and X3. The Nokia X3 is the first S40 based phone to offer the Ovi Store, while the Nokia X6 is a full-fledged smartphone powered by Symbian S60 5th Edition.

The Nokia X6 will be selling for 450 EUR before taxes and subsidies, but then you'll also get 32GB of internal memory (no microSD slot for memory expansion), a 5-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, the S60 OSS Web Browser with Flash Lite 3 (for YouTube access) and three games (Spore, D Mix Tour and Asphalt4). You can find even more details of the Nokia X6 here, revealing that the all-touch phone will get a 3.2-inch widescreen display and an accelerometer for display rotation.

The Nokia X6 is very much capable of music and video playback. In fact, the large internal memory and the 3.5mm headphone jack in combination with the on-screen Media Bar should provide a pretty good solution for multimedia fans. Will it match Apple's iPod solution in the iPhone? If you want to listen to music while using other aspects of the phone, then yes. However, if managing your multimedia files in an exceptional way is a must, then no. Using a 1320 mAh battery, the Nokia X6 also claims up to 35 hours of music playback.

Nokia X6 also boasts a 5-megapixel camera with VGA video recording capability, it should also be a good phone for uploading your own material directly to YouTube, Flickr etc.

Like most Nokia smartphones, the Nokia X6 will get the full range of Ovi services, including the new Ovi Store, Ovi Maps 3.0 and Nokia Music Store. Actually, the Nokia X6 will in some countries be sold with the "Comes With Music" option, though Nokia recently announced that it'll delay the launch of Nokia Music Store until 2010 in the U.S. Beyond Ovi, the Nokia X6 will offer Mail for Exchange, Nokia Email, SMS and MMS messaging.

The Nokia X6 will be shipping in the fourth quarter of 2009, and will get an estimated retail price of EUR 450 before taxes and subsidies.

Nokia 5530 XpressMusic

The Nokia 5530 XpressMusic (specs) follows in the footsteps of the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, expanding the touch XpressMusic range with a youthful device that has a stainless steel frame finish and comes in five colors. The phone is claimed to deliver up to 27 hours of music playback time, and a 4GB microSD memory card will be bundled in the sales package. Social media sites such as YouTube and Facebook can be accessed through the phone's 2.9-inch widescreen display. The Nokia 5530 supports GSM/EDGE networks and also offers access to Internet services via Wi-Fi. Nokia is collaborating with Boingo and will offer three months of free Internet access in select markets.
Price: EUR 200.
Release: Q3 2009.

Nokia 3710 fold

The Nokia 3710 fold (specs) aims to attract style-conscious users, and especially so the feminine part of the world. Apart from its looks, the Nokia 3710 boasts a 3.2-megapixel camera, GPS with Nokia Maps, and a microSD memory slot supporting up to 8GB cards.
Price: EUR 140.

Nokia 5230:Touchscreen, Music at an affordable price

The Nokia 5230 looks remarkably like a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone, and it has many of the same advanced features. But the new Nokia 5230 will start at only 150 Euros, around $215. That's a great starting price that will make this phone free on most subsidized carriers, and within reach for unlockers. But the phone doesn't skimp on features. The Nokia 5230 still features fast, 3G networking via HSDPA networks, and enough extra features to confuse this device with a higher-end Nokia smartphone.

The Nokia 5230 runs Nokia's Symbian S60 5th Edition OS, so it is technically a smartphone, but Nokia might as well start calling these devices "Ovi" phones, since it relies so heavily on Nokia's Ovi cloud based services. The Nokia 5230 features A-GPS, and will use Ovi Maps for navigation as well as aerial views and other location services. For more location-based apps, users can browse the Ovi Store, an over-the-air application store that Nokia offers on their smartphone devices.

Even without the XpressMusic branding, the Nokia 5230 should be a capable media player. The device will have access to the Nokia music store, and in select markets this will even be a Nokia Comes With Music phone, for some all-you-can-eat music downloads. You don't get the external playback controls we like on XpressMusic devices, but the Nokia 5230 still features a standard 3.5mm headphone jack to listen to tunes on your own earbuds. The device will also accept microSD cards up to 16GB, though no internal memory will be included beyond a few measly megabytes. Nokia also includes a Media Bar interface to make jumping into music all the quicker.

The camera is a simpler 2-megapixel shooter, a seriously low-level tech for the likes of Nokia. The screen is a still-impressive 3.2-inch display, the same size as the Nokia 5800. Nokia is also bragging about impressive battery life, at least during music playback. If you used the Nokia 5230 as a music player only, you could listen for 33 hours.

The Nokia 5230 is expected to become available in the 4th quarter of this year. Besides the low price (in Euros), the fact that official releases came out of New Delhi, India, as well as Finland tells us that we won't be seeing this phone on the U.S. market for a little while. This looks to be an emerging market device, and for those markets it should offer a nice mix of high-end, 3G features at a reasonable price.

LG Chocolate 4:A stunningly super-wide tablet phone

The LG Chocolate 4, also described as the LG BL40, could be a departure from the previous models with an ultra-wide touch screen dominating the front of the device. If rumored specs are true, this might be a 4-inch screen with an obscenely wide 21:9 aspect ratio. Although this ratio might seem a bit too wide, in fact the video shows how LG could use the extra space on either side of the screen to add soft keys and visual feedback, and still have plenty of room in the middle. The design in the supposedly leaked video is also in line with the official leaked shots of the upcoming LG Chocolate 4.

specs from the supposedly leaked video detail an already impressive looking device. The phone will use fast, 7.2Mbps HSDPA networking. All previous LG Chocolate models released in the U.S. have been available on Verizon Wireless' CDMA networks, but LG has proven adept at porting their designs between the two competing network technologies, so we wouldn't be surprised to see an EV-DO Rev. A version of this device show up on The Network.

The LG Chocolate 4 will also get a 5-megapixel camera, and some of the most impressive footage in the allegedly official promo video shows the camera interface in action. The video shows filters being applied to the camera on the fly in a very touch friendly format. Like other high-end LG models, the phone also appears to use Schneider Kreuznach branded lenses and imaging equipment.

The screen itself appears to be an extra-wide WVGA display, with a possible 800 by 345 pixel resolution. The LG video details a tempered glass finish, and claims that this will make the glass display nearly scratch proof. In addition, the LG Chocolate 4 will get aGPS for location-based services, and it will use multi-touch for pinch zooming on applications like the mapping software shown in the promo video. Pricing and specific availability have yet to be announced.

Bose QuietComfort 15:Review, Features And Specification

The QuietComfort 15s mark Bose’s latest crack at acoustic noise-cancelling, promising great performance from the sounds you want and an absence of the sounds you don’t. We’ve put them through their paces, so you can find out just how good they are in our Bose QuietComfort 15 review.

With rivals Creative and Sennheiser offering several cheaper alternatives, Bose’s QC2 and QC3 noise-cancelling headphones haven’t had things all their own way. Now the QC2s have been replaced by the QC15s.

They’re comfortable to wear, with the soft ear cushions fitting even larger ears with room to spare. The earpieces swivel in both directions, and the headband is flexible but firm in holding the earpieces in place. The audio cable is detachable, so you can use the QC15s to block out noise from the outside world even if you haven’t got anything to replace it with.

Tiny vents in the earcups help extend the spatial separation afforded by the around-the-ear design, and the result is a sound rich in clarity and detail. Just occasionally we picked up a slightly processed feel, as if the noise-cancelling and music-playing processes were getting in each other’s way, but otherwise we had no complaints with the sound quality.

The biggest disappointment is that the acoustic noise-cancelling is an integral part of how the headphones work, so without it switched on the QC15s produce no sound at all. This is a nuisance if the AAA battery runs out, but the battery life of 35 hours means you shouldn’t be caught out too often.

The QC15s are expensive, but worth the money if you have it to spend. They do two things well: make the most of the sounds you want to hear, and filter out those you don’t want to hear.

BlackBerry Storm: Review,Features And Specification

The BlackBerry Storm 2 addresses almost all of the complaints buyers had with the original. The BlackBerry Storm 2 is faster, more responsive, built better and more feature-packed than the first Storm. Even so, the interface was wildly inconsistent, as if the phone could never remember when you're supposed to press and when you're supposed to lightly tap; when you're supposed to swipe or when you should just point. Sometimes, it simply didn't work. Sometimes, the interface design was so counterintuitive that we decided to give up. Even with the improvements, and they are significant, using the BlackBerry Storm 2 was a real chore, as the extra pressure required to 'click' makes every action a bit harder compared to other touchscreens. The interface design was continually frustrating, even while newer phones, like the HTC Hero on Sprint, manage to surprise and delight with clever and adaptive touchscreen interface ideas. All the basic BlackBerry features are present in the Storm 2, like the great integrated messaging inbox, the deep access for IT managers, and newer features like the BlackBerry App World and the tightly integrated Facebook app. Plus, the screen on the Storm 2 is one of the best we've seen on a phone, and it's great for watching movies and videos. But if you want BlackBerry features, buy a classic BlackBerry with a keyboard, and if you want a touchscreen phone, there are much better options on the market.
Release: October 2009.
Price: $180.

Pros: Faster, more responsive than original BlackBerry Storm. Fantastic display quality, great for movies. Well-organized messaging.

Cons: Interface design is frustrating and cumbersome, even when SurePress works well. Browser still lagging. Some features could use a serious graphical boost.

New Honda CBF Stunner Fi

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) made a national launch of Honda CBF Stunner Fi in the Indian market with not much fanfare. The aim of the launch of the new CBK Stunner by the company is to bolster the Japanese company sales in the two-wheeler segment and Honda targets almost 12 per cent increase from its last year figure of 10.7 lakh units of two-wheelers in India.

Additionally, Honda management says that the new CBF Stunner PGM-Fi will be instrumental in achieving the aforesaid target of the company. However, the target customers for this new sporty and stylish Honda CBF Stunner Fi 125cc bike will be youth in the age group of 18-24.

The CBF Stunner PGM-Fi sports bike is an upgraded version of Honda’s 125cc stunner. Honda‘s new Stunner is equipped with what is called as PGM-Fi (Programmed Fuel Injection) technology, an upgrade over its predecessor Honda CBF Stunner. The innovation improves fuel efficiency whilst giving enhanced performance. The new CBF Stunner PGM Fi will hit the road in sparkling colors of red, yellow and black in a weeks’ time; by June first week.

The new 125 cc CBF stunner is powered with a 4-stroke, air-cooled self-starting engine. It would generate a power of 11.6 bhp @8000 rpm. The mileage is expected to be around 65kmpl, although it sounds over optimistic, even if it is around 50 kmpl its good enough. Sources from Honda claim that from standstill position, the bike can touch a speed of 60kmph in 5.2 seconds. The kerb weight of the bike is 129kg and the fuel capacity is 10 liters with 2 liters in reserve.

Smoothness, reliability, upright ergonomics and pleasure of riding all comes as a package from the new Honda stunner at premium price of Rs. 64,630 (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the basic version. The New CBF Stunner will be available in three variants. With the punch line Absolute Sensation Reprogrammed, the new Stunner Fi is expected to entice the young bike enthusiasts.

TVS Taurus Fiero F3 About to hit the Roads Soon.

TVS has come up with another fire competition with Bajaj’s 250cc Pulsar. The result is this awesome and macho looking Fiero F3 codename Taurus

The 250cc Engine (Again single cylinder though) is what powers it. The main attraction is disc brake for the real wheel as well…. cool (Pulsar 250cc is being outdated there even before the launch!!). Price…….. Little costly compared to Pulsar 250cc… It could come somewhere around 1.30 L. Hope this bike captures the Indian roads soon. Just had a glance of few snaps of Taurus… Looks really sturdy. This is the first kind of bike in India that has disc brakes in rear wheel. More technical details about the bike is still private or unavailable.

- A twin-cylinder liquid cooled & fuel injected motor

- 4-valves per cylinder actuated by twin overhead camshafts

- 33PS at 11,000rpm

- 22Nm at 8200rpm

- A six-speed gearbox

- 172kg all up kerb weight

- Tubeless tyres

- Disc brakes front & rear

- Kawasaki patented Uni-Trak rear suspension

Bajaj Auto has been highly secretive about the bike's pricing and it is very difficult right now to quote the correct pricing. However, since it is a CKD import, the duties slapped on the Kawasaki will be lesser in comparison to duties levied on direct a CBU import - which means that the Ninja won't be exorbitantly priced for India.

Verizon MiFi 2200 Intelligent Mobile Hotspot

Verizon's version of the MiFi 2200 can use only Verizon's network you can't plug any other 3G modem into it. Powered only by a battery, the Verizon MiFi provides Internet access to up to five devices in a range of about 30 to 40 feet via 802.11g (not the faster 802.11n).

The included VZAccess Management client application has a Microsoft VPN client,Text Messaging tool, and it provides information on your Wi-Fi network. VZAccess is slightly easier to use than the other interfaces, but it has some minor bugs like not detecting wireless networks with hidden SSIDs, even if the networks were preferred networks in Windows.

Battery life for the MiFi, rated at 4 hours with constant use, drops much faster with multiple devices: just over 90 minutes with four Wi-Fi connections. It picked up the SSID of the MiFi at almost 50 feet but the service was sporadic. In speed tests, the Verizon MiFi reached its highest throughput speed at 2.5 Mbps for downloads and 0.9 Mbps for uploads.

Although the Verizon MiFi runs a bit hotter than I prefer (especially if it's going to be in your pocket) and battery life is too short, this device is still a good basic choice for getting the Web on the go.

Samsung Reclaim (Sprint):Samsung's Green Phone

Samsung hopes to stem the tide of cell phones in landfills with the Reclaim, a tidy, eco-friendly slider. It's also budget-friendly at just $49.99.

The Reclaim measures just 3.9 by 2.3 by 0.6 (HWD) inches and weighs 3.5 ounces. It's comfortable to hold, thanks to the rounded edges and textured plastic shell that doesn't show fingerprints. The 2.6-inch LCD is bright and sharp, and the buttons, keyboard, and controls are easy to use. Like most Sprint phones, the Reclaim is a dual-band EV-DO (850/1,900 MHz) CDMA device that supports 3G data speeds but not Wi-Fi. But you do get a side-mounted microSD slot for storing photos and music.

On test the Reclaim's reception was middling, and it struggled to hang onto EV-DO mode. However, voice quality was clear and crisp. Battery life was short at just 3 hours 31 minutes of talk time. Also, the Access Web browser was unusually slow to bring up WAP, and HTML pages felt gummy, which seemed more the result of a slow CPU than the browser. In addition, the 2MP camera was disappointing.

Most people buying this phone, however, are going to focus on its green credentials. The handset is made from textured bioplastics, comes in recyclable packaging, and the charger is Energy Star approved. With the Reclaim, Samsung proves that though going green is good, it requires some sacrifices.

Samsung Reclaim (Sprint)
$49 direct with 2-year contract

PROS :Made from mostly recycled materials.Well-crafted slider mechanism and QWERTY keyboard. Solid music performance. Standard size headphone jack.
CONS :Short battery life. Sluggish Web browsing and video streaming. Not the greatest reception.

Olympus E-P1: The Olympus Game Changer

With DSLR-like functionality in a package no larger than a rangefinder, the Olympus E-Pl is truly a game changer. The Micro Four Thirds camera offers spectacular image quality in a compact body, but its auto-focus is slower than expected slower even than some point-and-shoots. Regardless, this is an amazing first-generation camera; a product impressive enough to cause competitors to scramble to create something even better.

This camera is compact, measuring 2.8 by 4.8 by 1.4 inches (HWD) and weighing 1.2 pounds (with the 14-42-mm kit lens). Also, the build quality is simply fantastic. It was modeled after the 50-year-old Olympus Pen—with a metal chassis and leather-like grip. The E-P1 is compatible only with Micro Four Thirds lenses. There is also no optical viewfinder, making the 3-inch LCD's large size even more of a necessity.

Operating speed is a mixed bag for the E-P1; it can be very fast, but its sluggish autofocus causes the camera to slow down significantly. Boot up and recycle times are also affected by the slow focusing, with average scores of 3.2 and 2.5 seconds, respectively. However, images produced by the 12.3-megapixel E-P1 are spectacular, competitive with many SLRs. And the ability to shoot HD video is an added perk. Despite its slow focusing, the E-P1 offers one of the best experiences for photographers looking to balance size, image quality, HD video, portability, and nostalgia.

PROS :Sharp images from ISO 100 through ISO 800.Low noise from ISO 100-1600. Beautiful design. HD video capture C720p30).HDMI port. Three-inch LCD.

Kaspersky internet Security 2010

On the surface, the latest Kaspersky suite looks more polished than last year's edition, but the actual security features haven't changed much. That's not a bad thing; this suite has tons of features, and the updated
user interface makes them more visible and accessible. Rather than attempt to stealth all ports (as most firewalls do),Kaspersky specifically blocks attack-type traffic, an attribute that proved very impressive on our tests. It is also light years ahead of the competition to program control. It also improved on antispam performance.

Kaspersky detected 88 percent of malware samples tests (a bit below Norton), and it does take more of a hit on system performance than the others here. But it is still a good choice for basic protection.

PROS :Improved interface. "Safe Run" virtual environment protects against unwanted changes. Intelligent application control. Hardened against malware attacks. Improved spam filtering. Blocks exploits and leak tests.

ASUS EeePC 1101HA:An Extra Wide Netbook

It's no secret that Intel and Microsoft have a firm grip on what a netbook may or may not use in terms of features and parts; hence the many
lookalikes in this pervasive category. But there are a handful of them that are considered exceptions to the rules. The ASUS EeePC 1101HA is one of maybe three netbooks that use an 11.6-inch widescreen and a higher resolution (1,366-by-768). In exchange for veering from the "guidelines,"
however, the IIOIHA had to settle for a slower Atom processor and a high price for a netbook. Still, it ranks right up there with some of the best oversized netbooks.

The 1101HA has a black lid that is a magnet for smudges and fingerprints, but it is also sleek and lightweight at 11.3 by 7.7 by 1 inches (HWD) and 3 pounds, managing to hide the bulk of the 6-celt battery. This netbook
loses points, however, for having an only 92 percent keyboard and sticky mouse keys.It scores points for including a Broadcom 802.11n Wi-Fi chip, a rarity among netbooks.

The 1101HA's 1.33-GHz Intel Atom Z520 processor isn't as fast as the 1.67-GHz N280 processors found in the ASUS 1000HE, Toshiba NB205, and HP 5101, but the Super Hybrid Enginer software lets you overclock it to 1.83 GHz. Being restricted to 1GB of memory and Intel integrated graphics didn't help the 1101HA's performance scores much. But it did deliver a good score on MobileMark 2007—6 hours 50 minutes. This is a top-tier oversize netbook, but the Acer A0751h is a better buy.

SPECS :
1.33-GHz Intel Atom Z520 processor.
1GB DDR2 SDRAM.
160GB, 5,400-rpm hard drive.
Intel GMA 950 graphics.
11.6-inch, l,366-by-768 display.
3.0 pounds (3.5 travel weight).
3 USB ports.
63-Wh, 5.2-Ahr battery.
Windows XP Home Edition.

PROS :Gorgeous 11.6-inch widescreen. Desirablescreen resolution. Very slim and light. Battery is designed almost flush with the base. Excellent

CONS :Keyboard only 92 percent for an oversized netbook. AtomZ520 processor is a little sluggish. Not the cheapest 11.6-inch netbook.

Dell Launched Mini 3i Android Smartphone

Dell recently revealed their new smartphone which is not really that smart. Dubbed the Mini 3i, it resembles the iPhone is many aspects, from the rounded edges to the chrome plating at the back, bringing back memories of the iPhone 2G, along with the easily scratchable chrome plating. Seriously, those things seem to develop scratches the moment they are exposed to air.

Anyway, the specs on the Mini 3i is not really awesome. The plus points are a nice capacitive touch screen, 360*640 resolution screen and 3.2MP camera with probably a few hundred meg of internal storage and a MicroSD slot for expansion should you (eventually) run out of memory. The downside is… that’s pretty much all it has. Not GPS, No WiFi, no 3G, meh. In Dell’s defense, the phone is supposed to launch for Chinese markets, which does not have WiFi (only a government censored version) nor 3G on their networks. Dell is currently considering whether or not to add GPS functionality into the phone or as a separate module.

Sony PlayStation 3 120GB (PS3 SMm):A Slimmed-Down PS3

To the casual observer, there's nothing particularly slim about the new sony playstation PS3's sleek black housing; it's only when you compare it with its nearly three-year-old counterpart that you see how much smaller it is. The bigger news here is the $100 price drop; The original PS3 retailed for $600 when it launched in 2006, and up until late August, the least-expensive PS3 you could buy was $400—with an 80GB hard drive. A more-reasonable $300 now buys you an incredible console that's more compact, has a roomier 120GB hard drive, and is one of the
best Blu-ray players you can find.

In general, the new PlayStation 3 works pretty much the same as the previous-generation console, besides trimming this new model down to 2.5 by 11.4 by 11.4 inches (HWD) and 6.7 pounds. The device still features a 3.2-GHz processor, 550-GHz Nvidia graphics, and the RSX Reality Synthesizer GPU. The changes that are noteworthy are the hard drive bump to 120GB and the completely redesigned power supply unit and cooling mechanism, resulting in increased efficiency. On our power-consumption tests, the new PS3 used 71 watts during Blu-ray playback, while the older model consumed 104 watts. Also, you can stream content to the PS3 from a host of DLNA-compliant devices, such as digital cameras.

The new PS3 is nonetheless the best console for gamers and home entertainment buffs who want a versatile media center with Blu-ray.

Apple OS X 10.6 :Snow Leopard Roars

Apple has another winner with Mac OS X 10.6, also known as Snow Leopard. This version of the Macintosh operating system is the brainiest, brawniest and most beautiful consumer oriented OS available anywhere and it ships with the best built-in applications and utilities you can find. As its name suggests, this version builds on the strong foundation of OS X 10.5 (Leopard), and offers a smooth upgrade path for existing users (any Intel-based Mac will run it). But you're out of luck
if you still have a PowerPC-based Mac.

The new version looks almost identical to the previous one, so there's no new interface to learn. New features are tucked in unobtrusively on the old interface, so experienced users will find some pleasant surprises in
better-organized pop-up menus, as well as networking options, such as built-in support for Cisco VPN. Snow Leopard was also noticeably faster in my testing and requires less disk space.

Snow Leopard includes a few impressive visual changes, including QuickTime X, a completely new QuickTime player with improved performance, a sleek interface, and support for modern video features such as HTTP streaming. The biggest changes in Snow Leopard, however, are hidden under
its skin. Almost everything uses a new technology called Grand Central Dispatch (GCD), which shares tasks among the multiple cores of modern Intel CPUs and frees developers from the headache of splitting software tasks into separate "threads."

In addition, almost all the applications in Snow Leopard are now written in 64-bit code for greater speed and increased memory access compared to 32-bit apps. Safari already speedy under Leopard now renders JavaScript rich pages faster.

Another major new feature is full support for Microsoft Exchange accounts in Apple Mail, so Mac users now have full access to Exchange's calendar invitations and global address lists instead of using Entourage. Users can also integrate those with the Mac OS Address Book and iCal calendar.
And you get the enhanced Expose feature, which displays reduced images of all open windows at the same time.

The only weakness of Mac OS X 10.6 isn't in the operating system itself but in the range of applications available for it. Snow Leopard gets more things right than any other operating system, and it throws in striking good looks as a bonus.

Apple OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
$29 direct; 5-license family pack, $49.

PROS :Fast Elegant. Superb suite of built-in basic apps. Easy to use for those familiar with previous versions. Silky-smooth upgrading for existing users.
CONS :A few minor interface glitches.Lacks the range of applications and
compatible hardware available for Windows.

Kodak Zi8 Pocket Video Camera:Kodak's Pocket Video Wonder

Kodak introduced its first ever video camera late last year, the Zi6 it offered a number of features that the famous Flip Ultra didn't, including HD video, still-image capture, and a bigger,better-looking screen. Pure Digital soon hit back with the Flip Mino HD and the Flip Ultra HD. But with its latest, the Zi8 Pocket Video Camera, Kodak again proves that it can create a better product with more features at an affordable price.

The Zi8 is good-looking, well-built, and Slimmer than its predecessor, thanks in no small part to the switch from rechargeable AAs to a removable lithium ion battery. The 3.9-ounce camera is still a bit thicker than some of the competition, but it feels comfortable in hand. The sharp 2.5-inch screen is a vast improvement over the dull 1,5-inch LCD on the Flip Mino HD. Beneath the screen are a series of buttons: Tools, Trash, Video, and Playback, with a toggling joystick in the middle, which, when pressed also serves as the Record button. The joystick is a bit too responsive, however. You also get 128MB of on-board memory, which is paltry for HD, but you can get an SD card to boost memory to a maximum of 32GB.

The Zi8 also includes a plug-in for an external mic—one of the first cameras we've seen to offer such a feature. This is a welcome addition given the fact that, like nearly every other pocket video camera we've seen, the Kodak's built-in mic leaves a lot to be desired. It fails to pick up subjects'voices if they're farther away than a few feet.

Kodak has also improved the quality of HD video with the Zi8. adding lOSOp capture to the mix. The image quality is excellent, but this feature may be overkill for some. The Zi8 also offers 4X digital zoom, twice that of its competitors. Unfortunately, the zoom is a bit jerky, making for a less-than-ideal viewing experience. In short, the ZiS is one of the least-expensive high-quality pocket HD camcorders you'll find.

Nokia N86 8MP:Features and Specification

The Nokia N86 offers some subtle but meaningful improvements over the Nokia N85, and it's quickly become our favorite of Nokia's Nseries devices and the one we'd recommend first, even over the mighty Nokia N97. The Nokia N86 packs all our favorite features, including one of the best cell phone cameras on the market, even better than the Sony Ericsson C905 on AT&T that we recently crowned our favorite. The N86 8MP also has solid music and multimedia playback features and even app downloads in Nokia's upstart Ovi Store. Still, for all its impressive stats, and they are impressive, in the end the improvements over the Nokia N85 weren't features we were clamoring for, and the most egregious problems with Nokia's Symbian interface and half-hearted U.S. market support haven't improved, while the competition is lapping Nokia in terms of interface design and social networking integration. We're still impressed with the dazzling OLED screen, though it isn't quite as unique as it once was, and we like the design improvements that make this a more sleek, yet usable phone. Plus, it has the smartest kickstand we've ever seen. But the aging menus and the lagging OS performance means we're less impressed with the same old stuff we've already seen. Release: September 2009. Price: $500.

Nokia N86 8MP at a glance:

  • General: GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, UMTS 900/1900/2100 MHz, HSDPA 3.6 Mbps
  • Form factor: Dual-slide design
  • Dimensions: 103.4 x 51.4 x 16.5 mm
  • Display: 2.6-inch 16M color QVGA AMOLED display with scratch-resistant surface
  • Memory: 8GB storage memory, hot-swappable microSD card slot (up to 16GB)
  • OS: Symbian OS 9.3 with S60 UI 3rd edition with FP2
  • Platform: ARM 11 434 MHz processor, 128MB RAM
  • Camera: 8 megapixel auto focus camera with dual LED flash, wide 28mm Carl Zeiss lens, variable aperture, mechanical shutter, geo-tagging, time-lapse shooting and VGA@30fps video recording
  • Connectivity: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth with A2DP, standard microUSB port, standard 3.5mm audio jack, GPS receiver with A-GPS and Ovi Maps
  • Misc: Accelerometer for screen auto rotate, active kickstand, FM radio with RDS, FM transmitter, digital compass
  • Battery: 1200 mAh battery

Pros: Great OLED display. Takes great pictures. Packed with features, including surprises like FM transmitter and intelligent kickstand. Design, especially keypad, improved over Nokia N85.
Cons: Symbian OS isn't getting any younger. Camera interface was unimpressive. Lacks some features out of the box that U.S. buyers expect, like IM support.
